What if your symptoms aren't the problem?

"Life More Abundantly" The Newsletter

What if your symptoms aren't the problem?

What if they're the conversation your nervous system has been trying to have with you all along?

Welcome to Life More Abundantly, where each week we explore the relationship between your body, your emotions, and your nervous system through both science and lived experience. My goal isn't to convince you that you're broken or to promise quick fixes. It's to help you become curious about the remarkable intelligence of your own body. Every issue includes practical insights, a simple somatic practice, and an invitation to experience healing—not just understand it.

What If Anxiety Isn't What You Think It Is?

Anxiety often feels like something has gone wrong.

Your heart races.

Your shoulders tighten.

Your stomach turns.

Your thoughts begin searching for a reason.

Most of us assume our body is overreacting.

What if it's doing exactly what it was designed to do?

Your nervous system isn't waiting for danger to appear. It's constantly making predictions based on everything you've lived through before. Every conversation, every disappointment, every moment of uncertainty teaches your brain what to expect next.

Sometimes those predictions are so automatic that your body prepares for danger before your conscious mind has even recognized what's happening.

That's why anxiety can appear when your life is objectively safe.

Your body isn't necessarily responding to the present.

It's responding to what it expects the present to become.

The encouraging news is that expectations can change.

Your nervous system is constantly collecting new information. Every time you have an experience that contradicts an old prediction, your brain updates its understanding of the world. That is one of the remarkable gifts of neuroplasticity.

Healing isn't about forcing yourself to feel calm.

It's about giving your nervous system enough new experiences that it no longer needs yesterday's predictions to protect today's body.

🖐️ Try It Right Now

Don't keep reading.

Stand up.

Interlace your fingers behind your head.

Gently press your head backward into your hands while your hands resist. Hold the pressure for 10 seconds. You're not trying to move—only creating equal resistance.

Now release.

Slowly turn your head to the left.

Then, to the right.

Notice what changed.

For many people, the neck moves farther with less effort after only one repetition.

You didn't force your muscles to stretch.

You gave your nervous system new information.

When your brain recognizes that a movement is stronger and safer than it predicted, it often reduces unnecessary muscle guarding almost immediately.

That's the work.

Not fighting your body.

Teaching it,

With Love!
